4th Gen specific for sale thread

WTB - spacer kit. Either 2 and 1 or 3 and 2 for an otherwise completely stock v6 4th gen with Xreas. Thanks!

    Rough Country 3 Inch Lift?

Did any of you have the xreas system originally? The web site says it isn't compatible, but what is the difference? Anyone know what is involved in removing the xreas?

Bigger wheels on an otherwise stock runner

Thanks guys. I guess the lift will come sooner rather than later. I'm sure after 13 years and 110k miles my xreas are nearing end of life anyway...

Bigger wheels on an otherwise stock runner

I may do a 2-3" lift in the future. The reason I am looking is in my area things are ugly from an economic standpoint and there are loads of guys getting rid of stuff on the cheap. I know mileage isn't great to start with, but I don't want to destroy it. Thanks

Bigger wheels on an otherwise stock runner

My 03 sport is bone stock. Not one part has been replaced. Just wondering what size tire I can comfortably go to without issues. It is, and will continue to be a daily driver, and see some light off-road use. 33" too much?? I don't want to kill gas mileage or make it a dog as there are no...

    Line-x on grey cladding

Just thinking, on the 03-04s with the grey plastic moldings, has anybody done just a black satin plastic paint? I don't think there is any coating on it, and that would cure the DIY clumpy issues. It already has a fair bit of texture.... Tremclad satin black would make for an easy repaint...

    Line-x on grey cladding

Wow that is nice. My 03 sport will be getting a DIY job this summer after seeing that.

    Anyone know anything about painting?

No, ecoat would be for metal only. That is probably bare plastic, I can't say for sure as I have never done anything with plastic. Here is a great guide on painting flares.... http://www.partcatalog.com/how-to-paint-fender-flares

    Anyone know anything about painting?

The advantage of a local store is advice. They will have received feedback on what works and what doesn't. Most guys are happy to point you in the right direction. Just my humble opinion. Many manufacturers make a good two part primer. But if you have a new black panel you don't need it...

    Anyone know anything about painting?

Ahh, so it is a new panel. The black is something called ecoat. The ecoat is only designed to stop the rust from forming before the panel is primed and painted. Scuff the ecoat, prime it with epoxy primer, then a high build primer (only needed if there are small chips or dings on it, if it...

    Anyone know anything about painting?

If it's unfinished, as in nothing on it at all, you need a proper primer to seal it. And what type will depend on what paint you are using. If it is finished, but you don't know what type of paint is on it, I have had the best luck with a two part primer. They tend to be fairly non reactive...

    Anyone know anything about painting?

Agreed 4gin007. Never strip to bare metal or plastic at home. I have done many paint touch ups with both guns and rattle cans. If you use good products (NOT duplicolor, go to a real paint supplier) you can do a surprisingly good job with a rattle can. I have done many where only in the...

    Broken fuel door hinge

Road grit will build up around there and you will have a much higher chance of getting dirt etc in your fuel tank. Also no protection from gas thieves.

    Random 4th gen questions

Thanks guys. I have been leaving it in 4hi (center diff NOT locked) basically all the time and flipping it to 2 once a week. I have it in my head that switching between the 2 several times a day is going to kill the motor quickly. That just doesn't seem to me to be a "normal use" and I'm not...

    Random 4th gen questions

Hey everyone, I picked up a new to me 2003 V6 sport 4 runner with 170k Kms (100k miles) on it about a month ago and have a few questions. 1) the side roads where I live are snow and ice covered, but the mains are clear and dry. Which is better? a) leave it in 4hi all the time (with a flip...
