Best, Most Simple Replacement Subwoofer for JBL System

I went with the rockford, I want to say the pioneer was unavailable when my factory one blew. Fastening the sub to the plastic factory box is super easy, just apply a little force and the screws will probably make their own holes as needed. And if you want to make the wiring super easy, the...

    Negative battery terminal change

Big 3 or Big 7 upgrade also addresses this problem. New mil terminals and individual cables for each major connection.

20 yr old coils - Ride height impact

The single best way to dial in a ride height would be replacing f/r springs with a set rated for the height you want. It also will give you better ride quality than the 5100s with the collars adjusted up. There are a bunch of companies making them, I went with Dobinsons since they had options...

looking for help identifying this piece 2004

I honestly have no idea what it is, but I can confirm it's not connected and seemingly not an issue on my 05 v6. You're probably good to just leave it.

    Exhaust system

Keep an eye on local sale pages like FB marketplace or craigslist. I was able to find 2021 (Any 5th gen is fine) OEM exhaust for like $80. That was everything behind the Y pipe virtually brand new since the other guy had installed something else and wanted it out of his garage.

Fuse choice to run USB wiring

I used a blank switch right in front of the armrest and just tapped into the 12v outlet a couple inches away. <5 minute install and it's on a switched circuit already.

    Replacing Low A/C Line Only

If it's empty then that's that. You may want to replace the condenser/drier as the drier technically is done once it picks up moisture from outside the system. Then if you want ideal performance I'd have a shop evacuate it to check for leaks and refill with the correct mix of refrigerant and...

    Growl sound

Keep an eye on your coolant levels, that noise is one of the most common early symptoms of a failing head gasket on the 03-05 V6s. A waterfall/water moving sound especially on startup was one of my first warnings. From there I started to notice the overflow bottle magically filling itself and...

Replaced sway bar links, swimming all over the place now

Check those tires. It's not quite as common as a bad or damaged suspension but tire issues can cause some funky behaviors including wandering and pulling to the side. Ideally you'll wanna remove and remount them, try to make sure they're not misaligned with the hub or loose somehow. Check your...

    4th gen 4runner alpharex headlights!

There's a bunch of early adopters on the 4th gen facebook groups. So far these seem to be pretty awful. Unlabeled loose wires, minimal instructions, build quality issues. I'm not sure how many people have actually gotten them installed and working but I have yet to see positive feedback.

    Another JBL Speaker Replacement Question

Your call if you're trying to future proof this or just want to fix the issue. When mine crapped out I picked up cheapish JBL speakers off crutchfield since they were close to the original ohm rating. Sound quality definitely improved over the OG speakers and crutchfield's recommended setup of...

Which driveshaft is this/do I need to order

You're correct about them needing greased but it's absolutely the rear driveshaft. I just replaced all 4 ujoints under mine and the muffler (in the photo) is absolutely not next to the front driveshaft. If there's not major damage to the driveshaft itself it might just need new ujoints which...

    Power Steering Leak...lower return line

I've got a v6 and replaced the pair of lines at the same time. I swear it was actually pretty easy with the skidplate removed. Undid the rack connections with an open end style flare wrench or box wrench, I have both and have a vague memory of using the ratcheting box wrench to do 3/4 of the...

    Broke Battery Ground Bolt

You may be a candidate for a rivnut, just make sure it's a metal one. Those grounds are pretty important so whatever your solution you need to take care to minimize resistance between the battery wire and vehicle body. Maybe bust out a multimeter and confirm those materials conduct well?

2004 T4R with JBL Stereo problem

You're correct. The grille just pops off with a pry tool. I didn't replace my speakers, but I did swap the grill for the mirror with no noticeable impact to the audio quality in the vehicle.
