will a 95 engine and transmission fit in a 1990? they are both V6

So i just bought a 4 runner and put it all back together (was 1/2 taken apart) started it up and it ran beautiful, until i added water. pours into the #6 cyl and starts to miss and then the water fills up the crankcase. How difficult is a head gasket chance on these? or am I better off swapping...

Very helpful, thank you. I got it home yesterday, thawed it out and tried to start it today. Starts if I am giving it gas but will not Idle. I can move it around as long as I feather the gas. I will be looking into this a little more. Ill take any opinions if anyone wants to throw them out there
