What we're seeing starting to happen is likely the last generation of non-hybrid/electric new powertrain development. With most manufacturers planning to produce a majority electric/hybrid vehicles in the next 10 years, its not cost effective to design new V6 or V8 NA powertrains anymore.

I think I'm more impressed with how long the auto transmissions lasts on these things. Not only that but they are smoother shifting than most newer trucks today.

I've had the best luck with Diehard batteries for aftermarket.

4th gen v8 or 3rd gen limited is my vote.

Unless its a cheap economy car usually OEMs are the best. Might not be the cheapest though.
