5th generation Trail edition traction control problem.

I feel your pain. I have owned, a 2006 4R sport 4WD, and then traded it for a 2010 TE. The 2006 did this and I had it worked on by the dealer several times. I had upgraded the tires to one size larger (can't remember the sizes) but no lift. Net, they really never got it fixed and it...

Oil Change 5th Gen: How To- LOTS of PICS!

Great job, thanks for the posting. But what a total mess to work with. Still can't believe that Toyota felt this made any sense. I long ago gave up trying to mess with this basic job, "the oil change" on my 5th gen. Now after looking at how long it takes to just take the filter apart, I am...

A 5th Gen Long Term Review

Nice review, totally agree on the hood. It's a distraction and takes a bit of getting used to. Paul Caldwell

Questions on Arb Front bumber install 2010 TE

Thanks for the feedback, it looks like it's a bit more than I realized. I have been worried about having a lift installed with KDSS. One question for Wepps, where is the front bumper valance? The side wrap around part? Reata, thanks for the tips on Toyota of Dallas, I will give them a...

Questions on Arb Front bumber install 2010 TE

I have a 2010 TE with KDSS and am considering having a Arb front bumper/winch installed. AFter reading other posts to this subject on this site I wanted to ask others who have done a similar installation just a few more pointed questions. 1. With a bumper installation would you recommend a...

Looking for help with my three biggest complaints

Question on the Washers BenSD, could you post a picture of the mod you did with the washers? I might try that also. I agree on seat comfort, it's has never been comfortable for me, and I was considering selling mine but the current Financial markets and price of gas, I decided to just keep...

    Attention Colorado Residents

Gray's has trail the leads to the top, even with snow it should be a passable trail with a good pair of boots. Torrey's from the saddle between the two is not a hard climb and you have little exposure, but if there is snow on the climb up from the saddle to the summit of Torrey's you might...

    locking differential?

2008 locking differential On a 2008, if it's 4WD, you have the ability to lock the center differential. This is not the same as a locking rear diff. The 3rd Gen 4R was the last version to offer a locking rear diff. In off road situations, it is a nice feature to have. It's my...

    Attention Colorado Residents

Gray's and Torrey I don't live In CO, but have climbed them 2x. Both times were in July, the 1st time after a low snow year the 2nd after a big snow year. It has been 10 years, but at least then you could camp all the way up the road to the trail head. I just found a spot that worked by...

    locking differential?

Locking rear Diff It's an interesting omission on the 4R 4th Gen. From the literature, the Atrac system should make up for some of it as the wheel that is spinning should be braked by the ABS system and the wheel with traction allowed to continue. This "should" work in most situations...

    Flex fuel conversion possible?

Flex Fuel vs 10% ethanol I am curious on this. More and more stations around here will have stickers on their pumps, "this fuel contains up to 10% ethanol). I try to avoid these as this type of fuel does impact overall gas mileage. How much ethanol is in E85? 85% or 15%. I also wonder...

If gas gets to $5.00 a gallon

Changing driving styles "P.S. I drive I-95 every day, and nobody is slowing down at all. Seems as though time is still worth more than a few more miles per gallon -- at least it still is to me. Plenty of large vehicles going 75 or 80 and not getting more than 14 or 15 mpg at that speed" Amen!!

    Spare tire mounting position

Spare Tire upside down More than likely it was done for the TPMS. It's much easier to check the spare when you get the light on the dash. I started to do this also, but realized as others posted you will trash the actual rim especially if drive off road. Paul C
