Agreed, sounds like you're still in 4WD when taking some sharp turns inside a parking garage, which is a big no-no with the part time system that exists in the 5th Gen 4Runner, which is the "binding" that westwind mentions above.
1 and 2 are for a pull out tonneau cover, i've yet to see a 4Runner with one though
Silver loop in 4 is for a cargo tie down hook, you can get a cargo net that lashes things down to the floor so that they don't fly around the cargo area
You should use the search function, as several people have discussed this topic already. I've personally had great experience with a XenonDepot kit, but that was in a 2003, not the new 2010's.
There probably haven't been that many people that have regularly and seriously towed using their 5th Gen 4Runner's yet.
That said, if you're consistently looking to tow 5K pounds or more, I'd look at a different car. Don't try to out think the engineers.
I'd say you'd be happier with the Limited. You say you want the KDSS/Multi-terrain etc from the Trail, but keep in mind things like that wouldn't even be available on those larger suv's that you're looking at.
