    MPG Report

The VW Rabbit diesel was always pretty frugal. I wish the 4Runner could get that!

    Milkshake...Not!

I'm in Africa using a 96 with a 3RZ engine....to do what it's designed for. I do truly love this truck (cue the Country music)!! My deep concern is for the contamination of the transmission with coolant. The truck is old but has been well cared for with coolant changes and a transmission cooler...

    Tranny question

OK, short and sweet. Does anyone know what the assemby number is for the auto that is mated to the 1998 with the 3.4? Is it an A340 variant? Thanks, Pete

    Auto Tranny question

I live over seas and am currently driving a 97 4WD with the 2.7 4 cyl and an A340 auto trans. This is a remarkable truck and has handled everything here in Zambia. The question is about the auto trans that was mated to the 3.4 6 cyl in 98. Is it the same transmission? I'm currently chasing a...

4 Runner Hi, I know this sounds crazy, but I live in Zambia Africa. I drive a 3 Gen with the 2.7 engine. I'll be back in the US next summer. My son, who lives in Maine, could come down and do the deal. Sooo, do you still have the truck and would you be willing to take it to the local Toyota...

    New Bushings?

I'm in Zambia, Africa and have to bring all my parts for my 97, 4 cyl from the US. The last year has been pretty tough on the old girl and the KYB Monomax shocks have helped, but I really need to do bushings as the front suspension is getting pretty rattley. Can anyone make a suggestion as to...

African Road Test, KYB Monomax Shocks

Hey, you can see me getting my Land Rover 130 off the plank bridge at anthillneighbors.com. I'll get some pics of the Surf posted before long. Thanks, Pete

African Road Test, KYB Monomax Shocks

Good catch! Yes, the stock tires for this are 265 70 16s. As for the other naysayers... 4 people will fit in the wayback of the truck. Two on a side facing each other. Four people will fit across the back seat and two in the front. That totals ten people in the vehicle. As for the gear, it fits...

African Road Test, KYB Monomax Shocks

I live in Zambia Africa. The shocks I bought were for a 1997/98 Toyota 4Runner (Hilux Surf). The kind of driving I do tends to be a lot of bush, very bad dirt roads and occasional long distance blacktop driving. The blacktop driving includes swerving to miss and occasionally hitting, large...

    Headlight headaches!

Hi, life has taken a couple of turns. I will not be able to get the headlights delivered here after all. Thank you for your thoughts and help. I hope you get someone else to take them off your hands. Best wishes, Pete

    Headlight headaches!

Ian, I had another thought. The shape of the lenses is the same for RHD and LHD (just the focus is different) and therefore, perhaps you could ship just the lenses. I believe that they are held onto the assembly by simple, pry-off, metal clips. Thoughts? Thanks, Pete

    Headlight headaches!

Ian, I tried to send a PM from my phone. Don't know if it went through. Bottom line is that 1) I'm interested in your lights 2) How much US $$? 3) I'm in Zambia and a visitor is coming out very soon who could carry the assemblies from South Carolina in the US. We'll have to move fast! 4) Can you...
