Selling our very nice Gen3 2000 SR5 w/5-speed manual. Searched for months to find a 'good one'; this is it. As you know, decent manual transmission cars are rare. We bought it with 190,130mi; just turned 198,000mi. Bought last summer for my son, intending to keep it at least through college...

Well, will do a change later this week. Due to a compressed schedule had to go with what is available locally. so, here's the plan: will change the oil and refill with Valvoline "Restore and Protect" and use the OEM standard (YZZD1) filter. it will be a short interval; will change the filter...

Agree that Fram, with a couple of exceptions, is not a great choice. Wix seems to have fallen off from its glory days (and I have used Wix in my Miata for a long time). If you scroll back through this thread, JoeT4R makes a compelling argument for the Purolator.

Thanks, again. will stay away from Fram and Wix. Definitely like the idea of more filter area so I will stick to either Toyota or Purolator. ... and will pre-fill.

here's my question: have read a lot about Seafoam as an effective de-carbon/cleaning treatment in the crankcase, gas tank, and via air intake. is it prudent to run Seafoam through my new-to-me 190,000 mile, 2000 SR5s crankcase? * don't have a lot of history on the engine, but do know that...

have a Gen3 in a similar state. brought it to Illinois (!) and will have it FluidFilm coated. the gent doing it said he will brush/sand the rust first, hit the most vulnerable areas (welds, etc) with primer, then coat. he says that the FluidFilm will stop the existing rust from getting worse...
