A/C stopped working after timing belt change - 2005 V8 SE!

The truck is at the shop today. As expected it is the evaporator. Worked out what I feel is a very fair deal with the dealer. I am covering the parts ($300, Toyota OEM) and they are paying the labor. Considering the difficulty of the job I feel this is good, and I am happy with it. I think...

A/C stopped working after timing belt change - 2005 V8 SE!

Well preacher35, you nailed it. I finally had a few minutes away from a busy week at work to poke around under the hood. I could plainly see where the drainhose in the passenger side firewall had leaked green-dyed oil, stop leak or whatever onto the top of the frame rail. So, it doesn't seem...

A/C stopped working after timing belt change - 2005 V8 SE!

Thanks to all for the replies. I'm hoping it's on the simpler side and not the evaporator but we shall see. I will take it back to the shop that did the T-belt first and give them the benefit of the doubt and then go from there. Thanks again, Paul

A/C stopped working after timing belt change - 2005 V8 SE!

Thanks DC runner. The dealer was a small local lot - not a Toyota dealer. From the reading I did it was hard to ascertain whether or not these 4Runners (or other vehicles for that matter) had dye in the system from the get go. Some said yes, some no. I feel pretty good about the dealer...

A/C stopped working after timing belt change - 2005 V8 SE!

Well...nothing like stuff going wrong within a day of buying a truck! So, I purchased a very nice 2005 V8 SE 4x4 w/95 k on Saturday (3 days ago). The dealer had the timing belt/water pumped changed on Friday(4 days ago) by an indy shop that they use. When I test drove the truck and when I...

Opinion on dreaded transfer case leak - 2005 V8

Thanks Austin. It goes from 4hi to Lo quickly which is good. I will definitely be exercising this and the center diff lock thanks to the many warnings here. What gets me is how silly it is that we moved from actual manual levers to control all this (as in the several toy trucks and 4runner...

Opinion on dreaded transfer case leak - 2005 V8

Thanks all for your replies....I certainly hope it is one of the "cheaper" leaks but I have factored in being otherwise. Once I get it I will be degreasing and watching for the source of the leak. Loved the pic of the 4x4 Camry in that one link above, Superman! Priceless! sungod- Looking at...

Opinion on dreaded transfer case leak - 2005 V8

Hi- New member here (just posted in the new member forum as well - pics of truck there). I'm picking up a 2005 SE V8 on Monday. Great truck but the transfer case is leaking (this was negotiated in the sale). I've read about this problem at length here and elsewhere. I just wanted to post...

    New Member from Raleigh, NC

Hi All- I've been reading for a while and learning about 4th gens on this site and others. I finally bit the bullet and will be taking delivery on Monday of a 2005 SE V8 4x4 with 95k miles. It's in beautiful shape and they are doing the timing belt, water pump, etc as part of the deal. The...
