Is your control the auto type or the 3 dial type? My Center temp dial is dark at night since we bought it last year. I'd assume that it should light up too, but haven't been able to confirm 100 percent before I go to the expense and trouble of tearing into it.

We bought one identical to this one last summer from a dealer. This one looks like thundercloud gray and not silver. We talked them down from $9900 and got it for $9k, but ours had a few more miles on it. We looked everywhere. It was ridiculous what some of the dealers were asking for trucks...

I don't know about the vibration, but from the pictures, it looks like the oil residue is from a leak up front that just landed on the differential.

I vaguely remember replacing one of those years ago on a vehicle, but I think it was for a friend. I can't for the life of me remember what kind of problem they were having. I think it had something to do with blower power or speed. Is this part tied to the temp control circuit? This problem...

The actuator moves the cable that switches from hot to cold. It is not binding. When I tested it, it moved from one extreme to the other when I adjusted the knob. Something is sending a different voltage to the actuator and making it change by itself from cold to hot.
