Hello, the strap is over .100" thick strait steel. I purchased 2 straps so I could double them up if I needed to. When I mounted this, I didn't need to double up the material. Its solid!

OP, My SSC2's are pro's. I got the amber in the fog pattern. I'm ordering the combo light package with the clear lenses since these have the ability to swap lenses. I will have those next week. I agree, the lighting output isn't what I wanted, but I didn't like the 3" pods on top of my hood...
