I have a 2003 Sport with the V8 and I have 3 kids and it's great. We can haul all our stuff no problem and having fulltime 4x4 is great. There is a rear audio system but I never use it. No complaints so far.

Just an update I have a 2003 4Runner Sport that has 99,000kms and still the original brake pads and I just had the 96,000km service and they said there is still 4mm left on the from and 7mm on the rear !! I drive about 150kms a day city and 170kms a day highway so it's not like I don't use them...

Here ya go: The JBL Synthesis Audio-related TSB is AU003-03, dated June 16, 2003.

There is a TSB for that problem and to fix it the replace the amp in the rear. I had mine done last year and it never happened again. The TSB said it only happened in cold weather which is when I had the problem.

No I forgot the last time I was in ... I will be going back tommorow since when I went to drive it today there was a puddle of AT fluid underneath :( Damn dealer must have left something loose on the last service. GRRRR.........

I've got the same problem. It's hard to tell where it's coming from. Sounds like a knock though.

The V6 would be fine for that but the V8 is always better :) Seriously though for your needs the V6 would be just fine and would out perform the Pilot & the Tahoe no problem.

Mine did the same thing a few times. There is a TSB for the 03's and I had it done they replaced the rear amplifier and haven't had a problem since. In the TSB it says it only happens in cold weather which is when I had the problem.
