04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

In the pictures that I posted, there is one when I have a flat head screw driver on the frost plug. This is where you take a screw driver and hammer on the lower portion of the frost plug. It will cause the lower portion of the frost plug that you are hammering on to swing into the engine...

    Changed my cabin filter

How did we ever survive as long as we have without these filters?? It is amazing what they catch.

    Upgrading JBL System

I recently upgraded my JBL HU with a newer Pioneer double din with back up camera. I kept all of the JBL stuff working by using the amp activator box, and it turned out pretty good. The sound is actually very good, and it will be way louder than me at 34 years of age normally run it. But...

04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

There really isn't a science to running that cord. Just make sure whatever you attach it to, it will not cause a chaffing issue. They provide PLENTY of cord to get it up to the grill, where I zip tied it down low. In the summer I cut the zip tie and hide it by the headlight. I have found that...

04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

My local Toyota dealership actually! They have been my go-to for my block heater needs for my last 3 Toyotas. I did take a picture of the box though so you can search for the part number if you don't live close to a dealership. Because we live in a frozen God-aweful part of the country they...

Drive with your 4th gear on a 2003 V8, Good or bad?

Was it acting like this before the timing belt? The engine might not be timed correctly. That would result in a lack of power.

    This guy turbocharged his 4.7 v8 4runner

I didn't see that much lag, looks very well setup actually. All I thought was "holy that must get terrible gas mileage" hahaha... and put your seat belt on!

04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

I did it! I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult, but it turned out only being a 2 hour job start to finish. One thing though, it is really snug inside the block. At first I thought there was no way the block heater was going to fit in there, but it fit fine. To preform the install...

    Cloth seat heater install

Awesome write up! I did this install last year to my SR5 and loved every moment of having them installed. This is the kit I used; http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-628-040-Universal-Seat-Heater/dp/B002U6IL9O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1413247344&sr=8-4&keywords=Heated+seats One kit per seat, and I...

04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

Thursday I am heading to my friendly Toyota service guy for service to the wife's car, and I'll be hitting him up for what he knows too. I too run full synthetic 5w30 and oil in the truck. Thanks for the replies! The sound of a vehicle starting at -40f is a terrifying experience. And would...

04 V8 Block Heater Install Question

I did this upgrade on my v6 and it was silly easy because Toyota provided a nice external spot on the engine for the unit to slide into. The v8 actually uses a freeze plug, and I have read the directions on the install. It tells you to use a freeze plug on the right side, second one back from...

    Roof Rack Rattle

I have owned 2 of these trucks, and both of them rattled up there. I fixed both by tightening the torx screws on the bottom of the cross bars. There is not much room to do it, but it can be done. I used a 1/4" torx bit with a small crescent wrench to snug them up. No fix for the sunroof...

    Clear Film for Instrument Cluster?

The stuff I picked up was 3M Plastic Buffing compound. My local paint supplier had it. It doesn't really define if it is for hard or soft plastic. For how easy it scratches I would say it is soft plastic though hahaha. The first time I did this, I buffed it when I changed the LEDs in the...

    Clear Film for Instrument Cluster?

I used plastic buffing compound on my scratched up plastic and it looks new. Perhaps just buff it once in a while.

    DIY smartphone holder

Oh hey, you have the same heated seats installed as my old V6 runner had. I put those in last winter before I sold it, and they were amazing! My Limited's heated seats are weak compared to those bad boys. Also back on topic that holder looks like a nice touch. Best part.. no interior damage!
