    Another new 4R owner!

20th birthday She officially reached 20yrs @ 126k miles and is still going strong. There's no new maintenance to report. It rides as quiet and buttery smooth as day 1. The interior remains in very good to excellent condition. The clear on the fender cladding is starting to go now sadly.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I finally replaced transfer case actuator seals. It's mostly a strait forward job per the excellent write-ups here on the forum. The two bolts up top are a bit annoying to get to but after fiddling with various extensions and swivels I found that they can be reached with strait extensions of...

How often do you change your oil/What octane do you run?

I've settled on 7500 miles or 9 months, whichever comes first, using Mobile 1 high mileage and the oem filter. Gas is always Chevron Supreme 91. My 2004 v8 is at 103k miles.

**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

Hmmm ... I guess I'll have to decide if I want to risk them taking it out again to correct whatever they did that covered it up, because it's definitely no longer visible.

Plastic "splash guards" pieces missing from Front/Driver wheel well

I ordered two sheets of the 1/16" from Grainger. Even though both sheets were stamped with the ordered part number, one of them was quite a bit thicker and refused to work with the factory clips. I tried to thin it down with a Dremel near the holes but in the end ended up just using zip ties...

    DIY: Front Strut Replacement

Great pics and write up - was happy not to mess with spring compressors!:reddance: As other have noted, I wasn't able to get the lower control arm to drop far enough without loosening the alignment/bushing bolts. One small add for anyone replacing stock equipment. The strut top nut is 17mm...

**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

As a small update to my dash replacement, I just noticed that the new dash was installed without the original or a replacement VIN tag. Is this the expected result or did they forget to transfer and/or install a replacement?

    clicking noise in dashboard

I've been at this for a couple of hours and for the life of me cannot see any claws or any other places where the blower assy is 'clipped' to the HVAC assembly -- no doubt it is somewhere as it just refused to budge. I have the engine, 4wd and TPS cpus removed and all four screws/nut holding...

Adding USB port for indash audio

I have the same Sony Android Auto head unit also. I used this dual usb port which has 1 charge port, and 1 port that passes through to the head unit.

**4th gen cracked dash warranty replacement

I got my 4runner on the list at the very end of May as it had just started to develop a small crack nearest the driver side vent. We waited about 4 weeks for the dash to arrive and they installed it earlier this month. There were no issues with any of my aftermarket wiring (stereo, charge...

    OEM rear camera wire diagram?

Reviving an old thread .... The confusion with that diagram is that the camera module itself has a short pigtail of wire that leads to its integrated connector, T11. The wire colors shown in the diagram are those of the 4 different harnesses that carry the signals to the head unit, not those...
