looked on the site i bought the box from last night and realized I missed the part about ordering large adapters if my crossbars are over 44mm:mad: so I ordered those for now only 10 GBP instead of way more money for thule's. back to our regularly scheduled thread :bigok:

just got my kamei box today...didn't even consider the fact that the mounting u-bolts wouldn't be wide enough for the crazy wide 4runner crossbars. anyone have a quick suggestion for good crossbars that aren't so wide, and preferably square?

I'm not sure if you can get them in the states, but I just ordered a Kamei Corvara 475. I was going to go for the skybox but Yakima doesn't sell stuff in the UK. And the Kamei seems like it might be better, its a German company and they crash test the Schei

pretty sure greasing the bump stop I was talking about fixed the noise, I didn't notice anything during the drive from the UK to Germany.

Last time I checked 250K+ mi. is well within the normal life of a 4R ;):. If I don't turn 250K on mine without any major maintenance I'll be disappointed. :biggrin2: (major maintenance being in- depth unscheduled repairs, but not incl. somewhat labor intensive scheduled maintenance)...that...

Are the front bearings supposed to be sealed and last the life of the vehicle? I know some are made to last but don't know about the 4Runner. Also, I'm more on the side of dirt/water/foreign debris entering the bearing and chewing it up. Theres also the possibility of contamination getting...

The only point of contact I saw was where the bump stop hits the lower control arm, to which I applied some grease. I haven't tried to recreate the noise so I don't know if it worked. It looks like a stop for suspension travel though, not a steering stop. I didn't see anything that looked like...

same issue I was just wondering the same thing about that noise this past week, I'm going to see if I can find it tomorrow. I'll post a pic if it turns out its the same thing. Thanks for the heads up.

First DIY oil change on the Runner Just changed my oil at a little over 10k, oil looked fine to me(M1 Syn)...pretty dark but that's to be expected I suppose. Used a Fram filter because that's all I could get on base, I'll probably swap that out with Toyota OEM or Amsoil in the future sometime...

nice 4R, could you post a pic directly from the front so we can see how far the tires come out?

that TT supra is insane. took me hrs to go through that thread. I'm thinking something more dependable and off road friendly for the 4R.;): although a 4Runner TT would be fun.

Its a turbo kit not a supercharger kit. I haven't seen any threads about turbocharging a 2UZ. It supposedly gets 375hp and 456 ft-lbs of torque at 5psi---from what I've read about the engine(including the weak points) it could handle that stock. If it was me I'd probably get the lexstacy...
