Turbo for the 2UZ?

I'm sure some people have seen this before but was wondering if this kit(or some variation of it) could work on the 4Runner V8. Didn't see any mention of it in the forum. What are your thoughts? I'm not sure how different the engine bays are I figure that would come into play. Also it says they aren't in production anymore but as its still listed on the site it seems like a determined person could get their hands on one(maybe having to order 25 while they're at it ;): .

The 2UZ has very thin connecting rods so supercharging would require beefing up the bottom end. There are numerous threads about this but I can't find them.

Its a turbo kit not a supercharger kit. I haven't seen any threads about turbocharging a 2UZ. It supposedly gets 375hp and 456 ft-lbs of torque at 5psi---from what I've read about the engine(including the weak points) it could handle that stock. If it was me I'd probably get the lexstacy H-beam rods at the same time anyway(so i could boost it more:D )

The Lexus rods are stronger? That sounds really interesting.

I was a bit curious about forced induction as well so I started searching for more info/user experience on other forums...

The rods on out v8 are thin (for a v8) but according to the general consensus of people who have built or boosted these engines it seems that 4-6psi is relatively safe (when tuned well with the right equipment, etc).

A few guys used the STS rear mount turbo setup and had great results so I have been considering doing a low boost set up as they are pretty easy to DIY and remove if problematic.

that TT supra is insane. took me hrs to go through that thread. I'm thinking something more dependable and off road friendly for the 4R.;): although a 4Runner TT would be fun.

I've been running 6-7 psi on my 2UZ for 45k miles with no problems so far. I have seen the skinny rods break when really abused. I would love to get one of those lextreme 2UZ short blocks to build up!

I looked everywhere on the site and could not find the specs to the turbo. It looks really tiny. From the pic it looks like another ebay cast mani turbo kit, lol.

04 SC V8, I'm assuming the tuning or software is part of the rare TRD kit?

How is the drivability around town or on partial throttle?
Yes I have the entire TRD kit that uses a piggy back ECU w/a 9th and 10th fuel injectors in the back of the supercharger plenum. It runs and drives fine under all conditions. I'm sure I could get a little more out of it by replacing the TRD piggy back w/URD components.
