    HELP 87-22re fuel injector o-ring

Hi, are you talking about the o-ring at the top of the injector or at the bottom? If you are talking about the one it sits in, those come in any head rebuild set. Mine is a 22r and the o-rings came with it, so i have them and if i can find one in an envelope ill sell ya one for a dollar. As for...

What 22R emission stuff can I remove without affecting drivability?

84 22R. Really only sees offroad action. Would like to eliminate some of the emissions equipment as all it is really doing at this point is clogging or caking with mud. Besides the air pump, is there other stuff i can bypass without causing a huge headache? Thanks.

22r/e timing cover. sleeve or replace?

Doh! yeah i was looking at the timing cover on rockauto and noticed they had two sleeving kits for it. Unfortunately my welding is limited to arc (and thus no aluminum) so i guess its new timing cover time. thanks.

22r/e timing cover. sleeve or replace?

Actually its an 84, so i would need the 83-84 timing cover. Thing is, guy just had the chain done, but whoever did it just completely left off the driver side guide:bash:

22r/e timing cover. sleeve or replace?

I see several sleeving kits for the 22re timing cover, for cases when the chain has worn through the cover into the water pump cavity. Does anyone have experience with any of the different sleeving kits, and recommend one versus the other, or is this a better safe then sorry situation where i go...

    MPG went down after tuneup

Ohhh I gotcha, Its a secondary filter in the air filter assembly. OP states that but not having a late model Toyota, I mistook him for meaning the canister filter. Thanks for the links:cowboy:

does my 4runner have differential slip?

For future reference, you can tell whether or not any car has an open diff or not by jacking the drive wheels off the ground and spinning one of them. If the wheel on the other side spins in the opposite direction as you spin one of them, its an open differential.

84 22R Head Removal. Help needed.

Thanks! solved my problem for me. Having a threaded end with a nice glob of RTV is more than a suitable solution on this particular job, It was just hard if not impossible for me to determine what effects it would have on the motor, especially with the 4 miles of vac lines on it:spider:Its...

    MPG went down after tuneup

Disclaimer: Not a Toyota guy. New to forum. If removing the filter from the canister is some old tried and true TOYOTA trick, I was not aware. Link me to info on it (because I'd like to learn) and ignore what I say next. Before the days of true EVAP systems, over 80% of HCs emitted from cars...

    Great Forum. Thank you.

Hi Everyone, New guy here. Im an ASE certified tech but virtually all my experience is in Honda/Acura and Ford. Agreed to rebuild a 22r from a 1984 for a friend in exchange for having my roof redone. Had a few concerns and a quick search of that series of tubes we call the internet led me this...

84 22R Head Removal. Help needed.

Doh! Appreciate you taking the time to look though. Think we had a little miscommunication as to what part I am talking about. As a non toyota guy, I would call it a Thermo Actuated Vacuum Solenoid. Toyota seems to reference it as a BVSV. The 1985 PDF Manual shows it on page 117. There are...

    22R headbolts. Reusable?

Fel-pro calls for replacing head bolts with head gasket. Can't find any mention of Toyota saying that they are torque to yield bolts. They look fine after running them through a dye to clean the threads. Im inclined to reuse them unless anyone has some reused bolt horror stories to share. Thanks.

84 22R Head Removal. Help needed.

ahaha, no, i had found and removed that bolt, thank god the manual makes such a deal about it. Was just a 26 year old OEM HG and the head was completely stuck.:toilet: Valves had a little carbon, but overall i was very impressed with its condition. Nice little motor. Pic of the beast for ya <a...

84 22R Head Removal. Help needed.

Sorry to double post but i got the head off just wanted to come back and say how in case anyone else encounters a similar problem later. Hooked up my cherry picker to the front and rear lift hooks, cranked the heck out of it and it finally broke free.
