Cruise control not working & brake light stays on

It should work. The float senses low fluid, and turns on the brake light. When the light comes on, the cruise is kicked off. Mike in AR

Cruise control not working & brake light stays on

The float in the brake fluid reservoir prolly has a pin-hole in it,,, and it's sinking, periodically. If there is adequate fluid in the reservoir,, just disconnect the leads that attach the top cap of the reservoir. I chased this problem for a couple of weeks, until I got a clue from the...

Major gasoline smell while vehicle running!

Check around underneath the passenger side of the intake plenum -- near the firewall. There's a fuel damper on the back end of the fuel rail, there. The rubber inside the damper is known to get hard and crack, over time. That lets fuel leak onto the top of the engine and the fumes get drawn...

original use of switch on 86 4Runner

From the looks of the other hole adjacent to the switch in question, I'd say there were a pair of them installed at one time. They kinda look like auxilliary, external light switches, but maybe a previous owner used them to replace bad door switches. Mike in AR

    Transmission Failure

This may sound too simple but, make sure you have the gear selector stick completely in Drive and not 'half way' between Drive and 2. As these shifters age, the detents that locate the shifter in the appropriate gears get sloppy. Mine had 185,000 miles on it and has quite a bit of movement in...

How to take my 93 T4R's grill out

I haven't doen mine in quite awhile, but I believe you just push straight in with a flat screwdriver. The bottom ones take a very long screwdriver to reach. Do a search on the net for a Satoshi Grill. You'll find a lot of information. Mike in AR

Can someone tell me how to change the headlight bulb for a 93' T4R

There are a couple ways to get into the headlights. The owner's manual shows taking the side-marker lights off, then taking the grille off the front and then removing the headlights. The grille is held on by several little clips that you un-do with a flat screwdriver. The bulb goes in from the...

    Tires pressure

Thirty five pounds is a good place to start. If you want to be more specific, draw a line about an inch wide,, all the way across the width of the tire. Next, drive it on flat pavement and see what kind of pattern you have. If you see the whole line, then you are pretty close. If you see a...

    1990 T4R w/ v6. Engine is hot, hot hot!

Mine is like that, too. Runs a normal temp when driving, but stays 'too hot to work on' for about four hours after I turn it off. It's longer than that on a really hot day. I try to make sure that I park it where I wanna work on it, the night before. Mike in AR

    Tires

Technichally, 31 x 10.50 - 15 is largest stock size. Someone on another board I have read says he runs 33 X 9.50 Dunlops with no lift. All this might depend on how much sag your springs have. Mike in AR

    recharging AC on 92 with 3.0 L

I recharged, also,, last year. Unless there is a BIG leak,, recharging is the way to go. Mike in AR

    sas?

Kinda depends on what ya wanna do off-road. If it's rock crawling or mudding, SAS is the way to go. You get more articulation (suspension travel) from a solid axle and you don't have to worry about CV joints breaking. If you are just riding trails, going in snow or sand, then IFS is completely...

    sas?

SAS= Solid Axle Swap. It's for those with Independent Front Suspension (IFS) and they wish to put in a solid front axle. Claims are: better off-road performance, and less breakage of components. Mike in AR

    recharging AC on 92 with 3.0 L

It uses R12, unless it's already been converted. You'll prolly have to get a certified A/C tech to do the recharge, since I don't think you can get R12 over the counter, nowadays. I have recently heard thru another board that even the R134 systems are being phased out. This is supposedly...

    3.0 engine swap

Here's an online version of the 1993 FSM. It can help with particulars. You might want to get a Haynes Manual from a local parts store, also. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/engine.html Mike in AR
