End of the Road for me and my runner

It is with a heavy heart I must part with my 4Runner. I'll be putting the "for sale" signs on it this weekend. I bought it used back in 2014 or so as a 2007 SR5 with 82,000 miles on it. It now has upwards of 240,000+. I'd like to keep it but it has become too much of a risk. Strike one was a...

coolant pipe under manifolds removal tips

I've cut the brackets and removed the 10mm bolt that holds in the bracket attached to the big pipe. So there is no real way to get it out of that rear housing? That's my problem. The rear housing is held on by 4 nuts on studs which I have removed but the housing is on there good still. Should I...

coolant pipe under manifolds removal tips

Doing a knock sensor fix on a v6. I've got the upper and lower out and now I'm dealing with the stupid coolant pipe that blocks access to the sensors. I've cut the brackets now I'm just trying to figure out any tips or tricks to get that pipe out cuz I'm having a heck of time. Any help would...

Should I keep it or ditch it

I have some tools but to do the knock sensor I'd probably have to buy some additional ones. I have the v6 and from what I've seen the knock sensor job requires removal of upper and lower intakes. I can swing a brake job or oil change, but I'm not too confident in getting it done in a day. But I...

Should I keep it or ditch it

Thanks for clicking/reading. I'm at my wits end lately with this car. I'm in need of some opinions. I've got a 2007 sr5 4x4 with around 208k miles and a bunch of repairs needed. I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if another shoe is gonna drop cuz its getting expensive already. In...

Super tight lug nut shop fault or not?

Thanks for the responses all. For context the stuck bolt was the last one only because I couldn't break it loose. I actually tried getting it loose as the 3rd bolt but gave up after several well placed stomps. Regardless, I will take the suggestions under advisement.

Super tight lug nut shop fault or not?

Wound up with a flat today...on the coldest day of the year no less. Using the kit included with the car the lug wrench lacked the leverage to break one lug nut loose. I broke 5 of the 6 loose with well placed stomps, but the last one resisted even me literally hopping on the wrench. Now I had...

Replaced alternator now vacuum leak need help ID hoses

The diagram is there but is primarily concerned with hoses near the air filter as opposed to anything on the driver's side where I really need to see

Replaced alternator now vacuum leak need help ID hoses

As the title says I had a "fun" time replacing the battery and alternator after they died on the way home while my wife was driving it. In the process of struggling, much swearing, some blood, and a "sacrifice" to the road gods in the form of a 15 and 10mm socket to get it out I'm fairly certain...

    Issues with jba UCA bushings?

I've attached photos. First 2 are driver's side, next two are passenger side. If anyone sees anything wrong please let me know. I'll try and get video later. As for the sound, its like a metallic clank and often a pop. Beyond that I can't really describe it. I tried getting video from inside...

    Issues with jba UCA bushings?

I'll post up pics a little later today when I can resize them for posting on a computer. But the mechanic who installed them went off the instructions provided with the arms. I too find it hard to believe and might bring it to another shop for a second opinion.

Are bils 5100 my best option for cheapish 2/1 lift?

Bilstein 5100s are a good choice. I'm happy with the ride on mine and do mild offroading now and then. I would caution you however to research the rears before you buy. My rear bilstein 5100 was part# 33-187174 and had a minor problem with fitment. Stock the mounting post goes through a bushing...

    Issues with jba UCA bushings?

JBA sells replacement bushings on their site. I'll be contacting them about their 1yr warranty on balljoints and bushings and report back. I'm right at about 8mo of use on them as well.

    Issues with jba UCA bushings?

Been getting a lot of popping noises from the front end lately particularly when coming to a stop. Had it in for sway bar links and the pops got softer but came back. Shop had me do stops to get the noise while they watched and said the control arms are flexing forward then back and it appeared...

Running different length springs for rear.

I'm gonna agree with this concept. All things being equal, the springs should be the same size and lift equally. If your rear end is shorter on one end there is something else amiss. I'd eliminate everything else before putting spacers in. If it were my car I'd rule out every stupid thing I...
