Racks for Carbines - Your Experiences

No kidding, I still laugh at the posts on why disconnect the vehicle snooping telematics antenna.

Remote Fob Stopped Working, But Now Working Again

Just a SWAG as I ran into this way back. My wife decided to bring her remote along to dinner. My remote would not work until she was well away from the car. No issues since, keep the second remote locked in a metal safe now. Might have read something about them getting confused with two fobs...

    I replaced X-REAS with KYB

Good stuff. Wish my back was up to swapping out my 2012 Limited shocks. Had the dealer do my 2007 with Bilstein 5100s and a 1" bump in front ride height. Smoother over speed bumps and just as steady cornering. Would have to drive a standard and XREAS back to back to see if it was worth...

"BTSA" on display after starting up.

That makes sense. I do not use ant BT audio on the phone, but my have poked the wrong button. May just delete all devices and reset it all.

"BTSA" on display after starting up.

2012 Limited. No idea if this truck had entune enabled at one time or not. Upper left corner of the display shows BTSA for a few seconds and then goes out. It does not respond to a poke to see if it was some sort of touch screen thing. No mention of BTSA in the owners manual or the Nav...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Finally disconnected the shark fin antenna to prevent any tracking or potential remote vehicle control. Decided to do it by the hatch rather than tear into the dash. Connector had 3 coax connections, assume cellular, GPS, and Sirius. Nave system GPS still works, has to be using the dash antenna.

Comparing 0-60 times between my 2007 Sport and 2012 Limited for grins

Yabbut, as I said, I read in several place the measured 0-60 times and they were far more close, 20" wheels and all. With no wheel-spin, what would the traction control do?

Comparing 0-60 times between my 2007 Sport and 2012 Limited for grins

Found an old stopwatch and decided to get a rough idea how my two different generation 4Runners compared. Both have just shy of 80k miles and well maintained with oil changes and filters. Yes, read the endless threads, spare me. Was coming over to our Arizona house and thought, why not...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Finished extracting the KARR alarm the dealer installed back in 2012 or so. Deactivation plug was in, but it just bothered me like a "benign" tumor in there. Most of the work was removing the lower dash to access all those wire taps. Left the taps in place. They are not exposed contacts and...

Can the navigation screen read out lat-lon and elevation?

Any of my old Garmin Nuvi car units can shot position and elevation. Elevation while in map view is nice. The information is in the Toyota box, has to be. They just did not program it to be displayed.

Can the navigation screen read out lat-lon and elevation?

Looked and could find nowhere in the manual a way to display numerical lat-lon position and elevation. Just mapping. Can carry a hand held GPS of course, but having the lat-lon available onboard would be nice.

    Mystery add-on switch found

Knowing what to search for pretty much confirmed what it is. Not causing issues, no way to figure who installed the damn thing. Of course I have no control over the thing in the meantime. Want to remove it after I get a clear idea what is involved in getting at it. May try a search for...

    Mystery add-on switch found

No alarm added that I can see evidence of. Dealer control was my guess, though I cannot see what it does.

    Mystery add-on switch found

Picked up a pristine 2012 Limited a few days ago. A lot more goodies to learn about compared to my 2007 Sport. In examining the interior, I found a little pushbutton switch attached to the lower dash edge with screws. 3 wire cable goes somewhere up under the dash. No pic, but it would not...

    Hitch removal question.

i was able to unpop one ide of the bumper, remove all the screw under the hatch, and GENTLY swing the bumper out enough to access the big bolts, supporting the unattached side. That really helped popping the bumper back in place with no damage. Believe me, I did not want to remove it, bet...
