Mystery add-on switch found

Picked up a pristine 2012 Limited a few days ago.

A lot more goodies to learn about compared to my 2007 Sport.

In examining the interior, I found a little pushbutton switch attached to the lower dash edge with screws. 3 wire cable goes somewhere up under the dash. No pic, but it would not reveal anything. Previous owner has no idea, bought it used from a dealer in Phoenix.

Clearly added on, but cannot figure what the heck it does. Feels like a momentary switch, no set-reset feel. Not a thing seems to happen, engine running or not.

Dealer added something or an attempted mod? I have a 2012 electrical manual but would need to swim up under the dash to find out what it is connected to.

Anyone run into one of these?

Does the runner have an after market car alarm? Old way to turn off the alarm would be pushing the switch and turning the key.

Sounds like the KARR system that some dealers add for inventory control and then try to make you pay for it.

There are threads on the KARR alarm that show pics. As mentioned it is an added alarm system of questionable quality; that dealers tried to sell. Most discovered they were poorly installed with cheap splices.

Knowing what to search for pretty much confirmed what it is.

Not causing issues, no way to figure who installed the damn thing. Of course I have no control over the thing in the meantime.

Want to remove it after I get a clear idea what is involved in getting at it.

May try a search for installation instructions to reverse it. Hate tearing open dash panels.

No alarm added that I can see evidence of. Dealer control was my guess, though I cannot see what it does.
They tried to sell it to me as an un-hackable alarm lmao. It’s literally just a device that allows a dealer fob to unlock any car while on the lot. If you fall for it and give them money they “activate” the alarm which does nothing besides maybe add a vibration sensor to the factory alarm.
Unfortunately my car has it but “deactivated”. Haven’t had a need to pull it out yet.
