What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Replaced the original Denso fuel pump (at 336,645 miles) just 2 months before its 30th birthday. Luckily it died while parked in my garage, so I could easily drop the tank and replace it without incurring a massive tow charge and mechanics bill. I was contemplating replacing it for at least a...

    alternator rebuild kit

My original alt died after about 320k miles. The copper sliprings had worn through. Unfortunately, they are very expensive to replace, thus making a rebuild uneconomic. The best alternative is to buy a toyota rebuilt alt.

Knock Sensor and Knock Sensor Wiring Harness Replacement

When I replaced my knock sensors, I too found out that only the harness was broken, and not the sensors at fault.

New OEM Power steering pump -- still whines

I suggest you try a different fluid. Ironically, I had the same problem after 320k miles of using only clear P/S (like Prestone) and then switching to ATF on original P/S pump. When I switched back to P/S fluid, the groaning went away...go figure!:faint:

TBU Akebono vs. Wagner Thermoquiet - stopping power

Replaced the front rubber hoses several yrs ago with cheap rockauto parts. And replaced the metal lines with cheap bulk straight fittings and then custom bent them to fit.

I recently installed the Akebonos and you do NOT need to buy shims.

Steering rack poly bushing remove and reuse?

Actually, I do have a rust problem around the front windshield that I must fix. Regarding the rack, I plan to rebuild my leaky original rack and either keep it or sell it. The reason I bought second used rack was that if I had a problem rebuilding my leaky rack I would be stranded with no...

Steering rack poly bushing remove and reuse?

Sounds crazy? Let me explain: With so many miles, and with a very good eng and trans, my plan is to restore and then retire it as my second car. That $600 for a new oem rack will instead go for almost all the parts necessary for the restore not including the paint job. The replacement used...
