Delay in 4 wheel drive engagement

Thanks. I found this link which I think will be very helpful, but unfortunately I can't see any of the pics...not sure why. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/maintenance-detailing/48527-changing-differential-transfer-case-fluids-pics-included.html Can anyone send me a pic of the drain and fill...

Delay in 4 wheel drive engagement

I wonder if there is a thread on here on how to change the fluid...

Has anyone successfully separated the wheel hub assembly?

They need to be pressed apart.

Delay in 4 wheel drive engagement

Ok, I'll give that a try. I normally shift on the fly, but I'll try stopping and trying your suggestion. BTW, I see you took the running boards off yours. Looks a lot better with them off. Been thinking about doing that with mine, but I like the fact they help protect the paint. Maybe...

    Running Boards Off/On?

I think they look better off, and provides a bit more clearance, but like other posters have said, they help protect against gravel and rocks from chipping the paint on the doors and rocker panels. It's unfortunate the way they are designed though...too narrow to act as a real step for an...

Folding up the spare tire kit

Can anyone advise on how to properly fold up the spare tire "wrench" kit? Mine includes two straight bars, a hook, a tire iron, and a long bent rod. It all seems to fit nicely back into the pouch except the long bent rod. Can anyone show me how it's supposed to go?

Delay in 4 wheel drive engagement

I tend to engage my 4-wheel drive quite often, especially during the winter months, but lately I find it takes a long time to engage and disengage. The 4x4 lights will blink for about 45 seconds before it will engage, and almost the same amount of time to disengage. This is quite annoying...

    Heater fan not blowing

I just read on another thread some information on TSB # AC002-07 issued on May 18, 2007. The TSB can be found here: http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/skyvisions/2008-12-16_164136_03_runner.pdf To summarize, Toyota recommends installing a little triangle "Blower Packing" which costs $12 CDN...

    Heater fan not blowing

Two days ago we got close to 10" of very powdery snow, and my fan worked great. Yesterday was -19C and it wouldn't come on. I drove 40 minutes to a garage and they put it in a heated bay to let it warm up, and then lightly tapped on the fan motor and it started working, and worked for the rest...

    Not blowing heat

Yes, the vehicle is consistently coming up to temperature and staying there. It blows hot air when driving, but blows cold air only when idling. I spoke to a mechanic this afternoon, and he said to feel the two rad hoses to see if they are about the same temperature, or if one is hot and one...

    Not blowing heat

If the coolant level is low, should I coolant directly to the rad with the vehicle running or not running?

    Not blowing heat

My runner isn't blowing heat, and I read on another thread the cause is likely low coolant. Just wondering what the proper procedure is to add coolant and to burp off air bubbles. Thanks.

    Spare Tire

Thanks chili, you're right. I installed it backwards, with the rim spokes facing down instead of up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28nn8QVE1-A

    Spare Tire

I cranked down my spare so I could clean up the rim and change the tire to a 10-ply, and when I went to wind it back up I couldn't get the spring unit to fit back into the cavity of the spare rim properly. I got it to fit in cock-eyed, and wound it back up snug so it shouldn't fall down, but...

    A/C light blinking

Since last year, 80% of the time that I hit the button to turn the A/C on, it wouldn't work, and the light would flash until I manually shut it off. So, that's one issue I would like to resolve at some point soon, but for the last number of weeks, every time I get in and turn on the ignition...
