Spare Tire

Runner Up

New member
I cranked down my spare so I could clean up the rim and change the tire to a 10-ply, and when I went to wind it back up I couldn't get the spring unit to fit back into the cavity of the spare rim properly. I got it to fit in cock-eyed, and wound it back up snug so it shouldn't fall down, but I'd like to bring it back down and fit it properly into the centre of the rim. Any tricks on how to do this? Any pics of how it should look? Thanks.

You might have the wheel flipped the wrong way. The outside of the rim should be facing up, inside facing down. As I recall the bracket doesn't fit, as you describe, if the wheel is installed the other way.
