Mystery solved -- the mechanic replaced the wrong cat converter!! he replaced the rear left (secondary) instead of the front left (primary). Lesson learned: get a second (or third or fourth) opinion.

No, the CEL light is not on anymore. It WAS on with the two vsc lights, but the dealer somehow cleared the CEL light. How did they clear that one but not the vsc trac/off lights?
