I have a 96 4runner with 275k on it. Transmission always shifted like new. Then one morning I got in and when I went to back out of the driveway it slammed into reverse like I had been hit by a truck. Shifting into drive and 2nd gear was the same. Once it's warm it shift perfect again. If I let...
Unfortunately the need for a vehicle has caused this project to come to an end. I hate to give up on it but due to the loss of the eng ine in my daily i am having to get the 4runner back on the road with a v6. A new build thread will be made to document the truck but th ere will be no more...
I love the look of the scoop hood. I wanted one for my truck so we drove 3 hours to buy a 4runner that had one and blown head gaskets just so I could get the hood off of it. Fixed the head gaskets and sold the truck.
I haven't given up! Life has just been in the way. No progress has been made unfortunately. I did aquire a locking third member that matches my front diff though. It needs a rebuild but it was free.
I'm also looking at doing sequoia rear disc brakes by cutting the axle tubes from both rear...
sorry for the lack of progress. this has been on hold while ive been doing other work. still waiting to order my body lift but im replacing the ac in my camper so the body money is getting used for that. hoping to knock this 4runner out soon.
We recently sold one that was really really well taken care of by its original owner that had 411,000 miles on it. We have another that has 354k that runs and drives great. As long as they are well maintained they will go forever.
The motor mounts are done! Motor is finally attached to the frame. Just need to buy my body lift and I can move the body over. I also got my abs deleted today. Just need to order the master cylinder now!
I go the the pull apart and drill out a good seat support and just weld the new one in whenever we get a 4runner that's had this problem. We've had 4 or 5 that the seat bolt has pulled through.
We have an 01 limited 4x4 for sale with 411k on it. It's stupid clean inside and out. Just has failing paint on the hood and roof. They go forever if you take care of them.
Don't haven't the body swapped to the new frame yet. I still need to make my motor mounts. For now I have placed a firewall clip from a wrecked 4runner on the frame I'm building to check clearances. The motor is a little bit too far back so I'm going to have to take a hammer to the firewall by...
Got some work done the past 2 days. Stripped the interior of the 4runner. This thing was so nasty inside I just pressure washed the inside lol. Got the tunnel modified for the 4wd shifter and installed it. Installed the rear heater and my new carpet. Need to decide which cluster I'm goi g to use...
Yea just changing the back lighting bulbs to led can cause it. No idea why. We had one that was fine with them awhile back and this most recent one where once we took the leds out and put stock ones back in the fuel light worked as it should. Could just pull the fuel light. Don't really need it lol.
I'm not 100 percent sure how many miles are on my 99 I'm building but the oil change sticker from 2016 says 288k. We also have an 01 with 345k and another 01 4wd with 410k. Can't kill them if you take care of them!
Replace all the leds with stock lights and your problem will be solved. We bought one that had the same issue. Put the stock bulbs back in and the fuel light went out. Can't explain why it does it but that will fix your issue.
No pictures today but I went to the pull apart down the road for the 40 percent off sale and got some parts. Got a full carpet, rear heater assembly so I can add that to my truck, non abs front brake lines and the Ps pump off the truck I got my engine from. Need to go back and get all of the...
