Blown Head Gasket 3L V6 Recall information

Sorry I can't help you with your situation but I'm pretty sure you can find out if the heads on your runner have ever been done under recall by Toyota. What worked for me is I called Toyota's toll free customer service line, gave them the story, they asked for the VIN, looked it up on the data...

    2nd Gen wiper arm options?

What I did on the kid's 2nd gen 4Runner was use 3rd gen arms from Pick-n-Pull. Think I paid $15 for the pair. Hit 'em with some flat black paint, installed 'em and clipped in standard wipers. The rear wiper blade is a dealership item and is actually not that expensive. Hope this helps. Jim S

Whoops I messed up. 3.0 guys please help!!

You shouldn't have to pull the plenum. The coolant tubes comes out of the throttle body parallel to the valve cover. Facing the TB from the driver side fender the hose would connect to the tube on the right side of the throttle body. The coolant continues through the TB and in to a similar hose...

Whoops I messed up. 3.0 guys please help!!

Small diameter tube goes to the partially insulated hose that runs coolant through throttle body. It goes to the inlet below and to the firewall side of the air intake. The hoses off the PS pump are probably vacuum advance lines and go to the fittings on the plenum. The runner isn't here right...

    What's this thing? (PHOTO)

Hello, Looks like the cover for the fuel pulsation damper. The damper is on the passenger side fuel rail at the firewall end of the rail. The cover protects the damper and a small screw that is attached to the diaphragm of the damper. I've read the screw often falls out but this has no effect on...

    90 T4R A340H Trans Issue

Is there a way to disable the torque converter to see if this solves the problem? We had an old full sized Bronco that would act up on hot days-shuddering and stalling out, spewing ATF from the fill tube. Anyway, I talked to a mechanic buddy of mine, traced the wire for the torque converter...

    Bad head :(

+2 for take it to another shop. For what it's worth you can't assume the heads are cracked and if that is the case, you can always buy rebuilt heads or heads from the wrecking yard you mentioned. Regarding the used motor, does it include any warranty? All of these motors have had the head...

    3L V6 head work

Yes you want to replace those gaskets too. You can purchase a "set" of gaskets that will provide the seals you need for either a valve grind, or head gasket, or complete rebuild. Whomever is doing the job for you should be able to order the right set for your 4runner. The set may even...

    3L V6 head work

With budget in mind at a minimum I would do the knock sensor pigtail and coolant tube. Both are under the intake manifold. Depending on the mileage and service history the timing belt and water pump. Also any hard/cracked hoses that are hard to get to once it's all put back together...

    3vze timing belt issue.

Did this a month or so ago and I don't think I got it any closer. For what it's worth I bought an OEM belt at the dealership (yes, I've learned a LOT since then) and the Toyota belt had no timing marks on it. I had to rely on the marks I made on the old belt with a silver sharpie. My son's 3VZE...

    2nd gen troubles

Hello, This is the upper end of the Knock Sensor pigtail. It is an odd shaped plug and would be under the TB- If not the Knock Sensor pigtail, it could go to the sensor located in the water outlet that's attached to the back of the intake manifold- Can't help with the fuel problem, just...

    2nd Gen Timing Gears

FWIW the bolts are standard thread and a PITA to crack. I made a tool like the guy on Yotatech fabbed, and used that along with a 1/2" drive breaker bar with a cheater pipe to crack the bolts. The hose in the first pic might be the coolant line that goes between the water pump and oil cooler.

    Clicking sound will not start

Might be the Solenoid contacts. Toyota/Chrysler/Mitsubishi - Nippon Denso Starter Solenoid Repair Not sure exactly how to remove the starter though. I pulled the 3VZE starter with the heads and exhaust manifolds off. Hope this helps, Jim S
