I was replacing myvalve cover gasket on driver side. The last bolt head broke off with the stem still in the block. Closer inspection revealed wear in the block - attached image How concerned should I be? I will try to usebutane torch and penetrating oil on the bolt.

Finally! the torch and a heavy hammer did the trick. I can now vouch that you always hammer the side that has the snap ring.
