Drive with your 4th gear on a 2003 V8, Good or bad?

This ain't right. Get a can of carburetor/throttle body cleaner and use, maybe 2 cans And change your air filter.

Anybody got a good lift set up that tow's well?

I have the factory RAS system and added a 3 inch lift easily.

    FS: 2006 4runner V8 4x4 Limited for $14,000

Good luck with that. I think you're looking at a lot less.

    Thank you

Yup, just get a V-8, 250K on my 2003, just lifted it and added (285/70/17) 32.5 Goodyear MT.

Dealer wants $2400 to fix timing cover leak....

Looks like I should have had a V-8! Anyone else remember those.

Lift Options for Rig That Will Actually Tow

The V-8 with RAS is best for towing, I have that and a 3 inch lift. See my thread "I easily added a lift to RAS" somewhere in here. If you can't find one with RAS, add an Airlift system to assist your suspension on a 4Runner with a V-8. Even with 285/70/17 tires there's no issue with torque.

    Whining/Aircraft Noise

Wheel bearing. About 500 bucks to get it fixed at the stealership.

Am I the only who doesn't like black rims?

Just don't look right to me.

I easily added a 3 inch lift to RAS equipped 4runner

For anyone with RAS, the shop can do the suspension work, taking off the X-REAS and placing stock shocks, the springs are reused. It really only took 5 minutes to adjust the RAS sensor arm up, it moves only about an inch to the top to get the full 3 inch lift from the airbags.

I easily added a 3 inch lift to RAS equipped 4runner

And this thing now feels tighter after removing the X-REAS, it does have 250,000 miles on it. Have replaced the timing belt twice, changed the diff fluid twice, tranny fluid twice. added the rear breather mod. added the fog light mod. HID's added.

I easily added a 3 inch lift to RAS equipped 4runner

In the second picture where the blue dot sits, in the middle. See how the control arm can be adjusted up or down. It's a 12 mm nut, loosen, move the arm to it's top position, tighten the nut. The RAS will inflate until it reads N on the indicator on the dashboard. Rides as good as stock...

I easily added a 3 inch lift to RAS equipped 4runner

    1. Remove XREAS, keep the stock springs and add stock shocks. 2. Add 3 inch spring lift to replaced front stock springs/shocks as for a non-XREAS model 3. Add shocks to rear in place of removed X-REAS 4. Simply move the RAS sensor arms to their highest positions, takes 5 minutes to do this. The...

I added 3 inch lift and kept RAS working.

Very easy. I added a 3 inch lift up front with spacers to the suspension. Dropped the XREAS all around. The RAS is easy to adjust 3 inches higher. The valve control arm is attached to a linkage control arm. Loosen the 12mm bolt attaching the linkage control arm and move it to the highest...

What funny/weird/cool things have people said about your 4Runner?

I had a kid in the Target parking lot tell me mine looks great for a 2002, he would give me a good price if I want to sell it, he looked shocked when I told him it's a 1996 with 265k miles. I also have a 2004 LJ Jeep with 45k miles, fun to drive in the fall but can't hold a candle to the...
