Hey! I actually did get it resolved - it wound up being a solinoid on the 4wd system that went bad. After diagnosing it cost about $550 to fix. I can't remember exactly what it was called but it was an electrical part under the vehicle about halfway down that engages and disengages the system...

It seemed to have been an unfortunate coincidence that the 4wd switch went out at the same time I was replacing the radio. So we have grounded the pink wire putting it into 2H upon start since it wants to revert to 4H automatically. This is a temporary fix until I can get a new switch from...

thank you sbbamafan. Yes, the dealership told me that if you're driving around the city, you save gas by using the windows and not the A/C...however driving down the highway, its vice versa.

I just wanna know if the dual a/c system eats more gas than a regular a/c system.

no no. we're not talking about using the a/c as opposed to not using the a/c. we're talking about using the a/c vs. using dual a/c.

I have an 04 Limited 4runner with the Dual A/C function. It is fantastic! But I'm curious if it kills my gas mileage or not. Anybody have a clue if it runs two seperate A/C systems or is it just smarter and runs more efficiently? Thanks!
