Ok, 1.6 quarts is for a drain and fill only, if you drop the pan and filter its 3-4 quarts. I went to 4, and it was perfect in the hot range. According to a dealer computer this is what it requires, you will usually have to go 3-4 quarts on a pan drop, I let it drain all night so it required 4...

Working on a 02 2wd 3.4L 4runner, did a pan drop on the transmisson and did not pay attention to how much came out. Dealers are saying anywhere from 1.6 quarts to 8 quarts. I have put 1.6 in and its not coming up to the cold line before starting, and nothing when running. Whats the right capacity?
