I have the same issue with my 2008 4Runner. Braking seems to be fine. Never heard it before last week. Listened under the hood and it is definitely coming from the mc. Does it need to be replaced?

Anyone else with knowledge of the warranty extension? I haven’t attempted this repair yet, but my winch cable is frayed and the bolts are rusted. I am dreading needing to put a spare on in the middle of nowhere and not being able to drop it.

Update: after spraying the cable and winch with a bunch of wd40, I was able to crank the tire all the way down. Looks like the problem is that the cable had some frayed wires in it, causing it to get stuck in the winch. I trimmed the wires a little, but I guess the whole thing should be replaced...

Thanks. I’ll give it a try. I guess I’ll have to prop up the tire with some wood first so I can free it from the retainer before I can work on the winch.

My winch takes the tire down about 10” above the ground and then gets bound up. Any way to unbind the winch so it goes all the way? I don’t want to destroy it if it can be repaired.
