    3rd Gen. Brake Rotors

I found a really great Toyota mechanic here in my area. I brought him my '00 T4R to get the wobbly brakes fixed. I told him that I knew this model had a reputation for warping rotors. He agreed and said that its a problem on other models from that period, too. When I asked about a more...

    Low milage issues.

Assuming the vehicle looks solid, check out what you would have to pay for a newer 4Runner with the same mileage...say, a 2010. $16K may be a bargain for a truck that has so much of its life left. Add in the full frame and the best looks and off-road performance of any 4Runner ever offered...

    Wandering on road

Excessive toe-in with radial tires negates their lower rolling resistance advantage over bias-ply tires. This will reduce fuel economy and increase wear. I would consider a urethane anti-sway bar bushing kit, rotate the tires, and get an alignment.

How long did it take for you to find your 4Runner?

My 4Runner found me. A friend had this 2000 SR5 4WD that was in such good shape that his girlfriend called it the "Museum Piece". He asked if I would be willing to trade my Accord Coupe for it straight across. They were of equal value and I hardly used the Accord, so I agreed. When I took...

    Upholstery/seat covers?

Sheepskin covers work great and enhance the comfort of your worn seats. Thousands of airline pilots use them...they can't all be wrong. You can pretty much spend as much or as little as you wish to, depending on hide quality and features...

Urethane bushing kits for the stock sway-bars are very affordable: Anti-Sway Kit for Toyota 4Runner from Wheeler's Off-Road

You've been doing it wrong. Seafoam injection port

For those of you with lots of motorized stuff; Seafoam is available in gallon-sized containers for a very reasonable price (around $60). It works great in carburetor-equipped motors, too.

    Fuel Injection Cleaner

Though i've used Techron with great success, I've been using Seafoam of late. Its available in a gallon-sized container; great for the trucks and the equipment on the farm. From a standpoint of effectiveness, I find Seafoam interchangeable with Techron.

    I bought a Corolla S....

My first brand-new car was a '75 Corolla with a 1.6L engine and a four-speed. I outfitted it with a 2.5" exhaust system, a vented airbox, and Pirelli radials. I paid $3,200 for that car, drove it hard for 6 years and sold it for $1,500. It was a really fun bit of practical transport. I...

Is it possible that your persistent seal problem is related to a damaged axle?

    who has dogs?

We have four dogs, but seldom haul more than two at a time. For safety in the event of an accident and to protect the interior, we keep them in crates. They are the folding wire-type units. We fasten them down to the D-rings in the cargo area and place a bolstered dog bed in each one. This...

    Brake Rotor Weight

My Guzzi weighs over 650 lbs and my Triumph a little over 500. Both of them ride on only 2 wheels. BMW would disagree with you about unsprung weight on 4 wheelers...they have spent a good deal of money finding out how to reduce unsprung weight on their cars and SUVs. These measures include...

How common is the Pink Milkshake?

I just wanted to point out that this problem can only occur with automatic transmission equipped 4Runners. Many Base and SR5 variants came from the factory with a 5-speed. FWIW, my '95 Suburban experienced a similar failure at 175K. As has been stated earlier, radiators DO wear out. Though...
