My friend has an older Tacoma (99?), and it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is just something Toyota trucks do. Hell, my friend's '06 Tundra does it too. Maybe lubing the zerk points will help, but it doesn't bother me near enough to go buy a grease gun and spend the time doing that.

Surely you don't mean for just driving around? Because it's definitely not needed for daily driving. If you need 4WD for your daily driving, something is wrong.
