First, your rig is absolutely beautiful. Truly inspiring to see and I will use this thread often for reference for my own project.
What is your plan for mounting the spare tire carrier? I have a Hilux Surf now with the carrier and I am relocating to WA in 2 months (from Japan) and will be...
I believe this is somewhat inaccurate. Japan has a requirement for ALL cars regardless of age to be inspected and repaired every 2 years (it's called JCI). It doesn't get more expensive for older cars unless more repairs are required. That said, most people find JDM engines to be great...
Yup, Yoko. Ronald Reagan.
I have thought about that as well but I don't have anywhere to store it, nor do I want to deal with the hassle of importing (already looked into the process since I used to have an R32 GT-R).
Thanks for the heads up. Didn't realize they were avail on the 4th gen...
Hello! I currently own a 96 Hilux Surf living in Japan. I love the truck and I know that many of the JDM parts on it are rare in the US and highly sought after. That said, I will be relocating to Washington St. in a few months and planned on buying a 3rd gen when I get there. I will be...
The OEM unit is a double DIN. The unit below the OEM one is an aftermarket Alpine navigation system that came with the rig when I got it but never worked. I did not look into the reason why because I always intended to replace it anyway. If installing that nav unit you would need another DIN...
Replaced my factory Japanese head unit with non-functioning TV (due to over-the-air transmissions changing from analog to digital in Japan) and navigation with a Pioneer NEX AVH-4200. Also added a CT Sounds Amp and 10" sub.

I believe that color is called Azure Blue Pearl (Paint Code 8L6). It was only offered on 96, 97, and 98 models. Mine is the same color but I'm in Japan (mine is a Hilux Surf) and mine's 2-tone. I don't think they made my color combo in the US. Mine is the only one I've seen this color in person.
Looks awesome! How was shipping that over? I can't imagine that it was cheap. I want to get some for mine too but since they have to way a ton, I was thinking about making one with a welder friend of mine.
