The seal is for the hub really and I wouldn't want moisture or environmental gunk getting into that area. I'm just saying it should be replaced. Especially if it looks like OPs. If he doesn't replace the seal that hub bearing will start to fail/produce noise in due time.

It's not necessary but a good idea. Especially if you are running a stock head unit. An decent aftermarket head unit could provide a satisfying amount of power to some quality speakers of you want to go that route. Adding an amp on top of all that would be ideal though. Sound deadening for sure...

FWIW, it appears to be self correcting. Probably the ECU making adjustments as I drive it. I'm noticing it in the throttle, RPM, and gas mileage. Throttle wasnt responsive at first, RPMs were lower than usual and gas mileage was poor according to the dash (I reset it when I noticed the issue)...
