    $50 Paint Job

I'd be interested to see your results. We originally wanted to do black, but none of the results we could find looked even and shiny - they all seemed somewhat dull. But if your results are good, maybe we'll go for black later on. Okay, just kidding. I don't ever want to do this again. I...

    $50 Paint Job

Right! No, this has been more of a $100-$125 paint job. But if the experience of so many other people is right and the worst I can expect is for the paint to fade some, I'm okay with that (I haven't read ONE post by someone who's done this and had peeling). The whole damn car was only $700...

    $50 Paint Job

I spent days prepping and sanding - not sure what you're talking about. I bought 2 quarts of Rustoleum and when it's done I'll have plenty left over for touch ups.

    $50 Paint Job

It's a high density foam roller I bought at Home Depot. Everything I needed is stocked there except for the specific color of paint I used - that was special ordered (oddly for $4 less than it would have cost to buy one of the colors they stock).

    $50 Paint Job

I'm in Houston, TX. This 4runner spent the last 3 years on a deer lease in far west Texas.

    $50 Paint Job

Because I'm not trying to start a discussion on the methodology, I'll just say what you're describing is not the experience of people who have followed the steps I'm following.

    $50 Paint Job

I bought this '90 for $700 and even though it desperately needed paint, I couldn't justify spending more on paint than on the entire car. So I did a lot of reading and decided to give it a go with Rustoleum and a roller. I'm pretty pleased with the results. I'm waiting until I have some body...

    just won on ebay

That price seems really high. I looked for a 4Runner for months and I get that that one is kitted up, but that doesn't mean it's WORTH more. Plus, I would never buy a car that old from up North. It's guaranteed to have rust issues. I was going to suggest you look for a cheap one you can...

    Just picked up a 1990 4Runner...

$6 of spray paint later and I have no more rusty wheels :) There's one rust spot that I'm going to pay someone to fix and then we plan on giving a roll-on paint job a shot. I've rattle canned lowers on an Audi I had years ago and it came out well, so I'm confident about giving this a shot...

    Just picked up a 1990 4Runner...

Well, I guess I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I think that's where it's coming from. I'm taking it to Firestone in a bit to get all of the fluids changed (couldn't wait until tomorrow when my regular mechanic opens) and I'm sure they'll come up with a laundry list of issues. As for the rear...

    Just picked up a 1990 4Runner...

Hey everyone, couple of questions... It looks like the rear main seal is leaking, but slowly. How big of a deal/repair is that? Also, the rear window goes up and down with the key, but the interior button does nothing. What's the typical failure point for that system? Would replacing the...

    Just picked up a 1990 4Runner...

And it only cost me $700! Just wanted to make a post and introduce myself as I expect to be lurking around here for a while, picking the brains of experts. I personally would have preferred a 4cyl manual, but when this 6cyl auto popped up, I had to leap. It runs beautifully, just desperately...
