So last night replacing rear brakes and not sure what I did. 1998 4runner, rear ARB locker less than a year old. Symptoms: car jacked up off ground, No wheels on. I can spin the studs by hand, spin easily but I get a great clicking sound. Kinda like a card in bike spokes, or something...

Pulled my rear diff that was causing a shake, installed new diff with ARB locker, mounted compressor, now just need to figure out how to do the wiring. and hope I got the gearing right. We will see today?

Agree, simple trouble shooting will go along way... learned that the hard way.

I mounted it underneath the battery using a different method then the standard mounting plate. It was a pain but works well I think. locker was straight forward but took some time.

So just spent from about noon on installing a near rear diff. Buddy of mine came over and we got it mostly done. We got the near rear diff in with an ARB locker set up. Ran the hose, finally found a mounting place for the CKMA12 ARB compressor after much trouble and got that done. got the air...

ok to clear it up its the rear diff, 1998 4runner SR5, no e-locker. I know the bearings are shot, not sure what else since I have not opened it up. I would love to take the time and learn how to rebuild it all out, but don't have the time at the moment, or anyone that can help that has the...

So I was having some Diff issues, I am not a gear guy and so took it to a shop, 800+ dollars just to look at it in labor, no parts or anything...what??? so I am guessing at least 1000. so now i am looking into just ordering a pre-assembled Diff and dropping it in myself. 1. is this a good idea...

So after a replacement of the rear pinion seal I noticed some vertical and outward play on the pinion, and some sweet vibrations when driving to work anytime above 50. I am not sure I am talented enough to reassemble the rear diff after I take it apart. I am guessing a bearing went bad. does...

yeah I would be curious to see what it looks like. it could be over or under cleaning.... yeah I would be willing to pay a little more for all that. I think it seems like a fair price. looks clean but I would want that engine and tranny expected, maby by a 3rd party just to make sure.

are you referring to the coil springs? I am curious why you want to trim them. I would imagine it would make for a different feel of a ride. most likely a little bouncy is my guess.
