I do and yeah, we got lucky because that could've been much worse. Biggest injury was my left leg and it was pretty mild. It stopped hurting after a week with mild meds. Bleh... Trying to reset my password on this forum so I can log in with my browser and it's not working. Sent from my...

On Memorial day I had a guy run a red light and totaled my beloved 2004 Sport Edition: 16 years and almost 230k miles it served me long, well, and in the end, completely. Everyone walked away from this. Fortunately he was only going about 35-40 MPH and I caught a glimpse of him and reacted...

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

OK.. after patiently waiting a week to hear back from JVC I finally got PO'ed and called them. Turns out that particular head unit doesn't respond to bluetooth commands via steering wheel remote. They essentially said that the steering wheel controls mirror the little handheld remote controls...

    Sun Roof Making Clicking Noise.

Mine did that too. If you're still under any warranty at all I'd run that SOB back to the dealer ASAP. It could be a very costly repair since they have to completely remove the head liner to replace the mechanism.

    Rear Wiper

There are times I think my '04 gets a little "confused" on the rear window. The best remedy that can be done on-the-fly is to roll the back window down a little bit and then completely back up.

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

On the Scosche mounting kit you have to use theirs instead just because they have those tabs that stick out and hook onto the faceplate. I too would've preferred metal. Onto the remote thing.. I did get some useful data from PAC: Based on that evidence is pointing back to JVC. Hoping I can...

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

True, but if it were incompatible then the left side controls would not work at all. In this case, all the SWI-* does is to take an input and then map it to X manufacturer's code. I would more/less equate this to a universal remote. Technically there isn't anything stopping you from mapping...

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

OK.. educational night. On a whim I opted to take ONLY my left side buttons and map them purely to bluetooth related functions. Oof.. bad news. Yes, the buttons work, the SWI-RC works however it doesn't appear my XR810 supports that. Guess I'll be sending the buttons back. I could swap to a...

    Rear Wiper Delete

My local dealer had that part on hand. You might be able to give their parts department a quick shout. I looked around a little bit for the exact number but was unable to find it.

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

Yeah, I remember reading that exact post. I haven't (yet) sent those buttons back and am hoping I can find a way to get them working. I guess the key on that could be one of two things: maybe both.. 1. Is there a different in pints/pinouts between an '04 4Runner and the '06 when it comes to...

    Rear Wiper Delete

R.A. is correct - that it pulls straight off. I didn't have that item he had so I ended up hacking it w/my saw. What can I say, if your only tool is a hammer, the world looks like a bunch of nails. :D I was mostly trying to minimize the stress on the motors and its associated mounting...

    Rear Wiper Delete

When I replaced my rear wiper it had badly oxidized around that nut. It was a bit of a PITA to remove. What I ended up doing: Take a hacksaw, CAREFULLY cut all the plastic from around the metal nut. You can use pliers to grab chunks of plastic and tear them off that nut if you have to. Once...

JVC KW-XR810 install post mortem on a 2004 SE w/JBL

I've been lurking, occasionally posting, and mostly working with Asmara for tips on best tactics on this. After some research on various head units, I opted for the JVC KW-XR810 since I already have a Garmin 255W and I really don't need/want video of any sort. An added bonus on this head unit...

Aftermarket head unit 2004 SE w/JBL 10 Speaker

I posted earlier looking for recommendations on a good head unit replacement. I've pretty well settled on the JVC KW-XR810 - it looks like a very nice unit if you don't want NAV or DVD (and I don't). Anyhow I have been thinking of adding the bluetooth buttons to my steering wheel. I've been...

Aftermarket head unit recommendation for 4th Gen/JBL 10 Speaker

Forgive my cross-post for those of you who saw my original post in the 4th Gen forums... I have an '04 4Runner Sport Edition with the 10 speaker JBL Synthesis system and ran into a bit of a problem with my CD player - the CD load/unload mechanism seems to be having big problems. It doesn't...
