Knock sensor can lead to more issues cropping up. After I replaced mine, I had more and more issues crop up. This was mainly due to half-assed or incorrectly done repairs. If your's is still in good shape otherwise, then go for the sensor replacement. A 4Runner is always worth the investment.

My 95 3VZE had the same issue. My shop deduced that it was an egr fault of some sort and a faulty air temp sensor in the throttle body. I would try to find a shop that can diagnose OBD1 computers well. They replaced the throttle body and now it runs great.

Just a word of warning: if you didn't already know, the block and upper half differ from 90-92 and 93-95. If your's is older, the rebuild will go differently.

What's your MPG if you don't mind my prying? Mine has a stock 3.sl0w so I want to see what would happen with out emissions equip. on it.

Speakers in back are standard as far as a base SR5 goes. We'll have to ask the guys with four-bangers if they have rear speakers. As for the CD player, Idk.
