    Oooohweeee! 255/80r17

We just finished our first road trip with the new tires. Here is the data: Tow vehicle- 2013 4Runner TE Trailer - Taxa Mantis (~5,000 lbs and 500lbs tongue weight) Miles driven - 1,710 over numerous mountain passes between WA and CA (no correction made for increased tire diameter) Gallons of...

The close-up photo above is at/near full lock. There’s quite a bit of clearance at that point while on flat ground. I’ve tried to flex out the suspension a bit but have not yet been able to fully compress my front end while turning. I’ve turned at full lock in both directions while driving...

    Oooohweeee! 255/80r17

A quick update- it’s only been 2 days but my first impressions are very positive. I’ve driven some freeway and around town miles in rainy wet weather for the past two days. The tires have not slipped yet and have tracked very well in both environments. There hasn’t been enough standing water to...

I’m not. I’m running Dobinson’s IMS shocks and 302/505 springs.

I quite literally just had them installed but they get really good leaving the tire shop . I will definitely update this post when I log some miles. It’s set to rain for the next week and I should be towing my 5k lb travel trailer over some twisty roads by the end of the month. I was running...

They fit with no rubbing on the body mount or front fender liner. The spare is another issue. I was able to shoehorn it in there but with my hitch installed I could only manage ~1/4” clearance with the Swaybar and KDSS cylinder. I guess that means it fits but we’ll see if it rubs anything...

    Wildpeaks Cracking

I just noticed the same thing on my KO2s. Took them to Discount and was told that it is not an issue and that it’s a result of weather here in the PAC Northwest. They said if the “cracks” get wider (width of a quarter) then I should replace them. If you are worried about it take them to the...

Matte black front section hood scoop to replace the factory scoop on a trail edition

Toyota offers the black (painted) TRD scoop insert that fits perfectly. I picked up the entire kit (76181-35080-KIT) for about $107 and installed it on my 2013 TE. Fit like a glove.

    255/80 17 - Toyo vs Falken

I’ve been researching the Toyo Open Country At3 and the Falken Wildpeak AT3W for some time now and am confused by the conflicting reports I’ve found online. For example, Tirerack rates the Falken above the Toyo for wet weather and snow performance while Discount Tire’s Treadwell reports the...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Happy to snap some photos tomorrow. What specifically would you like to see. I was able to Confirm that I have contact between the OME UCA and the driver side coilover spring. Nothing on the passenger side. Dobinsons suggested reinstalling the coilover with the spring seat aligned towards the...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

I just had a local shop install my IMS lift and I have a few questions following the install. I went with the 50574 front struts with no additional preload, the 302B front springs, 50701 rear struts, and 505B rear springs. I also added the coil rite 4108 airbags for good measure when towing...

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Thanks, Mike. Any recommendations regarding which airbag to fit the 505s? I’m not sure if the Firestone recommended 4135s will work with the lift…

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Preparing to install a Dobinsons IMS lift on my 2013 TE with KDSS. I am using the 302s up front and the 505s in the rear. We will be pulling a Taxa Mantis trailer with the 4Runner. In order to aid in towing, I plan to add some Timbren active bump stops, Sumo Springs, or Firestone ride right...
