    Keep my v6 or v8????

Update… Soooo… we got the Wife a 2011 Gx460 with 100k from Tx that she likes. Got the CV boots replaced on the 2005 V6 and was ready to sell it as the V8 had been mine for 5 years and loved that thing. Went for a tire rotation on the 2005 V6 and saw a small puncture on a tire and tread...

    Keep my v6 or v8????

Yes, in CO and I have kept up on undercarriage care as these last longer than the frame if ya do! And yes, agree on the timing chain, only reason I am addressing the V6 is the timing chain cover leak and I am sure there is a leaky water pump. Just gonna do it all at once if we keep it for...

    Keep my v6 or v8????

Need some help 4Runner team! The time has come where my 2005 v6 202k and 2003 v8 210k needs one to be replaced for the wif. We’ll likely get a GX460 or another 5th gen 4Runner. Here is the prob… Which one do I sell, which one do I keep or do I post both? Maintenance is meticulous on both with...

What After Market Brake Rotors are people using here?

Nothing special for mine. Living in CO and driving mountain passes a bit I have gone with Carquest platinum coated rotors and platinum pads. They usually last 3-5 years and I haven’t gotten the wobble bobble.

    Rear End Droning?

Hope you find the issue and it’s an easy fix. I have an ‘05 4x4 with 180k on it and the rear diff went bad internally in the gears. We noticed an odd noise 1.5 years ago and it got increasingly worse. I was shocked it was the rear diff and upon inspection the gears and internal pieces were not...

My 2003 4Runner - Intermittent Wiper Switch Repair...

Hi! It’s been over a year since I fixed mine, but yes, all you should need is a Phillips head for the steering wheel shroud and to pull the windshield stick off.

Another JBL Sound System thread... help?

Thanks for the info, I had never heard of or came across the newer Camry or Scion headunit. I’ll look into that. The Crutchfield folks said that would be their first priority and should help with sound a bit. I am excited to have less wires in the truck as i’ll have Bluetooth at some point...

Another JBL Sound System thread... help?

Hi all! I have a 2003 4runner limited with the JBL TDS 9 speaker system. The headunit is starting to go out and I am pretty sure the sub is blown... i’ve Read multiple threads, watched YouTube vids and reached out to Crutchfield. My question is if this approach below makes sense and if...

    07 V8 Sr5 Sport...should I buy

I’d agree on negotiating the timing belt service! Also check putting it in 4Lo as I had to fix my actuator that was leaking = expensive. Taking it to a know shop and paying $100-150 would be worth it for a thorough inspection of brakes, CV boots, fluids, struts, shocks, etc. you’ll at least...

    Front Window Tint

2 4Runners We own 2 4Runners and did different tint packages. All the windows match for the most part on each. On my wife’s 05 we did 20% up front and 35% on the factory. This all matches well and cuts down on heat and sun on the kids. I like mine rather dark and did 12% up front and 20%...

    Help! Door trim issue

Gents! So I got this rig 6 months ago and have been slowly making it better with new fluids, etc... Unfortunately, I was helping someone deliver building materials and one of the items rested against the area below in the photo and TORE it! I am so disappointed. Should I superglue it back or...

New Rotors & Pads On a 2008 SR5- Difficulty Level?

I’ve learned a lot on this forum and YouTube as I had no previous experience. I just did the front and back rotors and pads. I also came across a frozen caliper. Check out YouTube for some great step by step procedures. I watched Jim the Car guys and had it playing while I was doing the job...
