I thought that the jbl speakers were quality speakers that just needed a little more from another headunit. The reason i switched out the subs is because the old JBL sub had some problems.
Another thing ive noticed is that it sounds like most of the vocals and treble come from the very front...

Pre-upgrade
2003 Toyota 4runner sport edition.
came with JBL audio speakers but no JBL headunit (stock toyota)
Post-upgrade
same JBL speakers
