    Keep blowing brake light fuse

I finally found the problem. It was the tailgate wiring where the tailgate hinges. The big black wire was almost broken through entirely. I repaired the black wire where it was broken and I cut the others close to the connector and slid a piece of shrink wrap to where the insulation was...

    Keep blowing brake light fuse

As I said, I replaced all three brake light bulbs. The 3rd brake light socket look like it had gotten hot because the white plastic was a light brown color but the socket looked ok inside. I unplugged the socket at the connector and it still blew the fuse. The other brake light sockets looked...

    Keep blowing brake light fuse

Sorry for the confusion. It's only the brake light fuse that keeps on blowing when I shift out of park with the engine running and my foot on the brake. And yes, I have daytime running lights. I have the entire back of the car opened up to access the wiring. I've checked everything I can get...

    Keep blowing brake light fuse

My 2000 SR5 4x4 keeps blowing the tail light fuse. I thought it was the brake switch but it tests good. I've replaced all the brake lights and check all the wiring for any chaffed areas. The brake lights work fine in park and I can feel the brake lock solenoid going in and out. As soon as I...

Stuck in park, no brake lights

I visually checked all the fuses twice and all appeared to be good. It was suggested that I check the fuses with a meter to verify they were in fact good. That did the trick. I’ve never had a fuse go bad that wasn’t blown. A good lesson. Next time I check a fuse I’ll do it with a meter instead...

Stuck in park, no brake lights

My 2000 4runner is stuck in park and has no brake lights. I checked the fuses and all are good. I pulled the brake switch and tested both sets of poles for continuity in both positions - all's good. I then check voltage to the brake switch - nothing. I don't have a wiring diagram. Is there...

    Need advice

I'm looking to purchase a 1994 4Runner 3.0 4wd with 206k. The paint is shot but the body and interior are straight and good. It has a burt valve on #1 cylinder so it needs a top end job. Dince I'm in there I'll probably do the timing belt. With 206k should I just overhaul the entire engine...

    Strut/shock upgrade

My front struts a gone on my 2000 4runner. I'm looking for anupgrade replacement- front and rear. I don't need any kind of lift, auto adjusting or off-road units, just a good replacement. Bilstein seems to be the top quality choice, but also the top price too. KYB is also at the top of the...

    Timing belt

Yea, I'm more worried about time than mileage. The car runs fine, no water pump leaks or anything obvious. All the hoses and belts are also 16 years old. Sounds like i should leave the timing belt, but maybe I should replace the hoses and other belts.

    Timing belt

    I'm in Ketchum, not Boise.

    Timing belt

I have a 2000 4Runner, 3.4 that turned 80k not too long ago. We don't drive much. The book says the timing belt should be replaced at 80k. I've read that many people say to go longer. This is the original belt and I'm wondering if I should replace it now because it's 16 years old. So is...
