    Summer is Coming!

Last time I drove on a beach in Oregon (Coos Bay), I was stationed at Ft. Lewis ('98) and you needed lockers to get around on the "beach". I miss the outdoors in the PNW. But summer time in FL? Take that top off!

    Anyone roll carpetless?

rusty, Spend the extra and do Monstaliner, you won't regret it in the long run. Herculiner, while cheaper, is more rubbery and WILL wear off over time. The Monstaliner dries as more of a hard plastic and is way more durable than Herculiner. Plus, you can order it in different shades...

    Anyone roll carpetless?

SVdude liked how I used Herculiner around the bottom of my F150 a few years back and went with Monstaliner for the same on his runner as well as the inside. It leaves a bit of a texture (all dependent on # of coats) and cleans easily. I've been running the floor of my 86 bare for over two...

    1st gen drivetrain question

Sounds about right. I'd keep my eyes peeled for a manual and look to start a project with that swap being first. Do you plan to daily it as well or will it be a dedicated ohv?

    Noob

Welcome dude. I'd try to make it out to Uwharrie tomorrow. Big event this weekend. There you'll have a chance to meet up with a bunch of folks and maybe network to find something along the lines of what you're looking for.

    Look what I found!

I've decided to resurrect this thread back instead of posting it somewhere it shouldn't be (and to try and get his attention).... Does anyone have an idea of the whereabouts of SVdude? I don't have his number anymore since we both left TN, him to CO and I to NC. I've got a slew of questions...

    KidV's 1985 4Runner

a decade's worth of building race-ready watercooled VWs taught me this: slow down. take your time. do it right the first time. do it all at once (if possible). it's all worth it in the end. it's even nicer if you have something else to drive in the meantime. patiently waiting to blow t4r...

    HEAT....or lack thereof

thanks jon! i spent today running errands and ended up finally copying 4crawler.com's one man hardtop removal system. camlocks are a win! took an hour. only PITA was making sure my holes were dead center of the studs. too easy and now i don't have to ask the old lady to help take it off...

    HEAT....or lack thereof

Sorry for the delay, it's a total lack I heat & it's still f'n chilly down here at Bragg. That piece the cable wasn't hooked upto won't budge. Put some wd on it since everything under the hood is covered in varying layers of mud/dirt....still wont budge. What is the damn part or #? Some sort of...

    HEAT....or lack thereof

as Iroke17 said....popped the cable back on & secured it. engine warm, still the same results. now i reckon i should check the heater core & make sure i'm getting coolant flow through it. suggestions? pop the box i pointed at, find the core and see if coolant starts leaking?

    HEAT....or lack thereof

between trying to learn Russian and entering the Special Operations community, only being married 4 months and various other distractions (as well as being a toyota noob), there seems to be no heat (only tepid air) coming from the vents of my 86. i pulled the dash thinking that maybe a tube...

    Rattlecan paint jobs

my runner is straight utilitarian (ex: it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to work). i used an orbital sander with about 4 .99c harbor freight 400 grit sanding discs to prep the body. gave each panel a good dust off and went to town with Rustoleum Ultra-Flat Olive Drab Krylon. it...
