Like others have said be careful. Not sure if it's the same one but a guy was posting warning ads on craigslist in Chicago about a black highlander being totalled and the seller trying to cover it up. You can get lucky though. I got a great deal on my old 96 a couple years ago in Chicago.
Looking for a cheap double din radio with auxilary for my 3rd gen. Just seeing if anyone out there has one before I buy something off amazon. Let me know.
Still might check the TPS with a multimeter. It took a while of driving my truck with a bad TPS before it threw a code. What you're describing sounds exactly like the problem I had.
I had a similar problem a long time ago in my old tacoma and it was my throttle positioning sensor. At steady RPM's it would randomly lose power. Pretty sure there was a check engine light that popped up after awhile though.
I'm interested in what you find too. I just did my brakes because my master cylinder was bad but my pedal is still pretty soft. I bled all the old fluid and air out of the system too but I still don't think it's right.
I know the key FOB programs to my 4runner. I have a 1998 key fob as well as a key fob I bought off amazon that others on the forum have stated work with a 1997. I tried it just to see if the lights would flash on and off and the brain doesn't accept the 1998 key fob at all. When I try and...

I have a 1997 4runner with the RS3000 alarm. I bought a fob and programmed it but can't get the keyless entry or the alarm to work. I get the rs3000 into programming mode and when I press the button on the key fob the lights flash a couple of times. After that I shut off the ignition but the...
I tried quite a few times and it never worked. I'll try unplugging it and see what happens. Is there a reason that the alarm might be disarmed and causing the remote not to work? I have no chirp and don't have the original fob and have to unlock my doors with a key. No alarm goes off though.
When I get the receiver into programming mode and press a button on my remote the security light stops blinking and the lights flash but the remote won't control the door locks at all.
