I did half of this mod Customsnorkle routing a pipe below the wiper cowl. It drasticaly chainged the depth of water I could go through. As a bonus my mileage and performance increased. I was getting 27 mpg (cdn) with a 86 p/u 22re 5gear with 32'' tires. I wish I woulda takin' pix of the mod...

So, is there a noticable gain to be had?

No low range on the 3rd gen's either. Makes a good unit for camping and winter driving.

This was a cherry unit till the exwife wrote it off.

My 90 3.0 5spd gets just over 400 km's / 250 per tank. I use it mainly to go back and forth to work not much stop and go driving. I had a 89 3.0 auto before that would get less than 300 km's and what a dog that thing was.
