Amsoil did the trick! I just had the oil changed all around ( transfer and diffs ) with Amsoil Severe gear. I shifted in and out of 4LO several times, and it is MUCH better. I guess waiting 'till 65K miles to change the oil was too long. I'm kicking myself now... I'll be doing it every 30k...

That could be part of it! It's been more like zero, or below, the last few weeks. I doubt it ever really warms up. It the same whether I do it first thing in the morning at ten below, or when I get home after running 20 miles at 50 miles an hour, though.
