The one thing you can easily tell is if it is opening and closing the hot water valve on the firewall. I don't know what other function isn't working right, but that function is my main need, so I do the seasonal manually opening and closing that valve.

I bought the new actuator thingy but never installed it. Like your suggestion, I just connect and disconnect the water valve seasonally. Just flipped it to the heat mode recently.

Well guys, I finally got the fuel filter off. I ended up buying a set of crowsfeet flare nut wrenches. I had SAE, but not metric and I bought crow's foot as they were cheaper for a set of 10 (10-19) than a set of four regular style wrenches. Will probably never use them again, but oh well...

Thanks for the great set of diagrams. Now finding that ground pin 2 might be like a needle in a hay stack. I shouldn't need that unless I want to use the pump to drain the tank, but if I am able to do that, then it is likely my clog is fixed and hopefully problem solved.

Per my earlier response, I ordered a new actuator but haven't wanted to play ground hog to replace it. For me, I found that I can manually go under the hood and flip the heater water valve to on or off, depending on the season. This isn't moving the door, but seems to work for me.
