So how did you get the guts out of the cable to grease it and did it help any? I just pulled both ends of mine and the cable insert is captive in some way. I suspect if I could get it out and give it a good lubing it would at least help a little. TG

Any good wheel bearing grease should do. I also took them apart with two screwdrivers as my pliers were not with me but I'm still sure it'd be easier with them as long as the tips are not buggered up.
